Pump Pain: Gas Prices Rise 13 Cents In Past Week To $2.24

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) – AAA Michigan reports statewide gas prices have increased by about 13 cents a gallon within the past week.

The auto club says the average price per gallon of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.24 on Sunday. That’s about $1.03 less than it was a year ago.

It marks the second consecutive week the statewide average has risen above $2 a gallon.

According to price watchdog gasbuddy.com the price of a gallon of gas in the Lansing area averaged $2.20. In Jackson the average is $2.22 per gallon.

Dearborn-based AAA Michigan says the cheapest price was about $2.15 a gallon in the Saginaw area, while the highest price was about $2.29 a gallon in the Traverse City area.

According to AAA, gas prices are beginning to increase partly due to a refinery issues in the Midwest.
