(WLNS) – Money to pay for two recreation projects in Eaton County has been approved by the State House.
The two projects, located in Grand Ledge and Delta Township, are part of the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund and total $431,000. They’re part of 69 NRTF projects totaling $24.7 million throughout the state.
One project involves expanding the boat launch at the JC Park in Grand Ledge. The $150,000 project includes acquiring a riverside dwelling on a lot adjacent to the boat launch project for facility parking. The project also involves enhancement of a connector trail for the existing river walk and a new non-motorized trail facility ending on East River Street.
The second is acquisition of 63 acres of vacant land adjacent to the undeveloped Mount Hope Township Park in Delta Township. The $281,000 project will eventually result in a public park that includes sports and recreation fields, picnic shelters, playgrounds and a non-motorized trail that will link to the township’s larger trail system.
The measure now goes to the Senate for consideration.
