Search Is On For New Lansing City Councilmember

LANSING, MI (WLNS) – While the school district is about to appoint a new member, the Lansing City Council is about to start looking for one.

They’ll have a month to replace Derrick Quinney, who is taking over as the Ingham County Register of Deeds.

Since Quinney’s was an at-large seat, any city resident can apply.

The council will interview candidates and pick one.

But to keep the seat, the victor will have to keep campaigning. The term expires this year, so the seat will be up for grabs in the November election.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
