LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has been hospitalized with a blood clot in his right leg, about a month after tearing his Achilles tendon while jogging.
Snyder spokeswoman Sara Wurfel says the 56-year-old Republican was admitted to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital near Ann Arbor late Thursday morning. Snyder had noticed swelling in his leg. Doctors determined it was a blood clot.
Snyder is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon he injured while vacationing in Florida.
Wurfel says Snyder is “doing well” and is in “good hands.” She says he’ll spend Thursday night there. There’s no set time for his release.
Wurfel says Snyder is canceling appearances in coming days but still planning to propose his budget to lawmakers next week.
He’s been in a protective boot and using a scooter.
