Meridian Township Police Issue Warning About Phone Scam

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WLNS) – Meridian Township Police are warning people of a fraudulent IRS phone scam.

Township officials say they have received complaints from people who claim they are getting calls from the IRS and Meridian Township. The callers demand money, bank account and other credit card information for unpaid taxes.

Police and the IRS will never ask for banking information over the phone.

If you know anything about these cases you are asked to call Meridian Township Police or Crimestoppers.
