Five Jackson County residents are homeless in the midst of the biggest snow storm to hit mid-Michigan in more than a year.
A fire broke out in a home at 206 Prospect Street in Jackson at around 4:30 p.m.
Firefighters from three departments – Jackson, Blackman Township, and Summit Township – worked the scene. They say most of the flames were right under the roof. That meant they had to wait for the roof to collapse before they could douse the flames effectively.
They say they home is a total loss and that five people, including two adults and three children, lived there.
No one was hurt.
At this time, firefighters aren’t sure what sparked the flames.
