SAN FRANCISCO, CA (WLNS) – At least one person is dead and several others are homeless in San Francisco this morning because flames ripped through their apartment complex.

The fire started around 7 last night. Officials say within an hour it was burning out of control.

At first multiple fire departments attacked the fire, to try and save some of the building but were eventually forced on defense.

The American Red Cross set up an emergency shelter to help roughly 40 people who lost their homes.
