(WLNS) – The latest episode of the web series “Star Trek New Voyages” is landing in Jackson tonight and it’s for a good cause.
The episode is called “Mind-Sifter” and will be shown at the Michigan Theater in Jackson at 7:30 p.m. The free event will feature a panel discussion with actor Brian Gross, who portrays Captain James T. Kirk in the series, and screenwriter Rick Chambers, a communications consultant from Kalamazoo.
Tonight’s event will also be a fundraiser for early grade reading initiatives through Energizing Education.
In “Mind-Sifter”, a tortured Kirk is lost in the past and presumed dead. Newly promoted Captain Spock (actor Brandon Stacy), must deal with a resentful crew, enemy threats, and haunting images of his suffering friend Kirk.
Before tonight’s debut Gross and Chambers visited 6 News This Morning to talk with Chivon Kloepfer about the event and the episode.
Admission to the event is free and people are encouraged to dress up in a Star Trek costume or other science fiction outfit. For every costume, Rick Chambers and Associates will donate $10, up to a total of $500, to Energizing Education through United Way of Jackson County.
