LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Local representative Andy Schor reintroduced his mobile home safety bill in Michigan.

It is meant to improve communication between agencies involved in mobile home park oversight and allow cities and townships to inspect properties and take actions if necessary. Currently only state officials are allowed to do that.

The legislation failed to reach the governor’s desk during the last term. It stems from the situation at the Life O’Riley Mobile Home Park in Lansing. The area was shut down last February because of unsanitary conditions.

Local officials say they would have gotten involved a lot sooner if they were allowed to intervene.
