Peters, Stabenow Introduce Keystone Pipeline Measures To Congress

(WLNS) – Michigan senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow have our state’s environment in mind; should the controversial Keystone XL pipeline become reality.

They introduced two measures to Congress. One asks for a study to be done on health and environmental risks of the pipeline, the other asks for more oversight to current pipelines around the Great Lakes.

The 1700 mile underground Keystone Pipeline would link the tar sands fields of northern Alberta, Canada to refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast.

President Obama says he will veto the legislation if it gets to his desk.
