Man, Teen Charged In Incident That Closed US-Canada Tunnel

DETROIT (AP) – Authorities in Windsor, Ontario, have charged a Michigan man and a teenager with possessing illegal weapons in an incident that closed a busy tunnel between Detroit and Canada for three hours.

Windsor police say the 29-year-old man is from Clarkston in Oakland County. Sgt. Matthew D’Asti says the teen is 17 and won’t be charged as an adult.

Their Dodge Durango was inspected Tuesday evening after they entered Canada through the tunnel. Police found a bag with a commercial-grade smoke bomb, two knives and a set of brass knuckles.

The man’s name won’t be released until he appears in court Wednesday.
