(WLNS) – A former all-state football player now faces up to 15 years in prison for raping a fellow Eastern High School student.
Edward Jackson, 17 pleaded no contest Wednesday to third-degree criminal sexual conduct. The pleae is not an admission of guilt, but is treated as such during sentencing.
Jackson will have to serve between 4 and 7 years before being eligible for parole as part of the plea agreement. His sentencing is set for February and he could receive up to 15 years in prison.
The attack took place near a maintenance garage on school property September 9. Jackson, according to a police report, picked up the girl in a truck and drove to the secluded location. She ran from the vehicle and he chased her down, eventually pushing her back in the truck. He then, according to police, pinned her arms down and raped her.
Jackson is currently held without bond in the Ingham County Jail.
