(WLNS) – He’s been on the job for just a week but Dick Peffley, the interim general manager of the Lansing Board of Water and Light, says he’s already taking steps to improve the utility.
We’re hearing from him for the first time today but 6 News reporter Nick Perreault reminds us this isn’t the first time Mr. Peffley has stepped into the fill this position.
Dick Peffley’s been with company 38 years including an earlier fill-in role as interim general manager. From 2006 to 2007 before the board brought on Peter Lark.
Most recently he served as executive director of operations and project manager for the $182 million REO co-generation plant.
Peffley sat down with us to discuss some of his priorities while he fills in. First and foremost, and probably not a surprise, communication between customers and employees is a high priority.
He admits there are some people nervous of changes going around inside the utility but assures customers the utility is in good shape and doesn’t anticipate any more changes following the firing of GM Peter Lark and Lark’s administrative assistant Susan Devon last week.
He adds while he is here he plans on being a very hand on general manager. “When they don’t have anybody to vent or talk to and you’re not pro-active, it generates mistrust and we don’t want that. The citizens of lansing are also our owners, i’ve always got time to talk to our owners”
Tonight on 6 News at 6 we will have more from the interim GM and how he plans to improve communication with customers.
