(WLNS) – She was trusted enough to care for their elderly mother. Now family members say a 57-year-old Lansing woman was stealing from their mom.
Ingham County Sheriff Delhi Division detectives have arrested Charlene Skinner on two counts of felony embezzlement, four felony counts of uttering and publishing and one count of larceny from a building.
The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office tells 6 News that they began their investigation in October of 2014 when family members reported several checks missing and cashed by the suspect. Skinner was employed by the victim’s family as a care giver to their elderly mother. Skinner was also employed by other persons in the community as a home health aide and house keeper.
It’s not known how much was allegedly embezzled but the charge is for embezzlement over $50,000 but less than $100,000.
Skinner is currently held in the Ingham County Jail on a $15,000 cash bond.
