(WLNS) – Enbridge Energy has halted testing on new oil storage tanks in Lake County, Indiana after blue dye used in testing was found in miles of local water-ways.

Section 6-B of the company’s pipeline runs from Canada through mid-Michigan and into Indiana where the leak was found.

Officials say the dye spread through about eight miles of tributaries, but they say it did not cause any harm to people or wildlife.

A filter has been installed to remove the dye from the rest of the dyed water. According to their website, the company is working to install new pipe throughout Michigan.
