MSP Investigating Meridian Twp. Officer Involved Shooting

Michigan State Police Department is investigating a shooting involving a police officer that occurred in Meridian Twp. Saturday Night.

MSP say the shooting occurred at a home on E. Saginaw Highway near Towner road around 11:45 PM.

They say an officer with The Meridian Township Police Department was responding to a domestic assault situation and made contact with the female victim and her daughter outside when the male suspect was seen inside with a gun.

The three took cover right before the suspect came outside the house then began firing a rifle.

The Meridian Twp. Officer returned fire, then received backup.

The 32-year-old male suspect was taken into custody, and is being held at the Ingham County Jail facing multiple charges.

No one was injured from the gunfire.

Officers from Lansing Police Department, East Lansing Police Department, Lansing Township Police Department, Michigan State University Police Department and the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office Assisted at the scene.
