DETROIT (AP) — A 29-year-old man wanted in connection with the death of an 81-year-old man in a western Michigan hotel has been arrested in Detroit.
Reportedly the man called 911 Saturday afternoon after being assaulted in a Detroit drug house.
Cornelius Wybenga’s body was found Tuesday at America’s Best Value Inn in Walker, near Grand Rapids. Results of an autopsy were inclusive, but police have said they are treating Wybenga’s death as a homicide.
Wybenga’s 2005 Ford Freestyle was taken.
Michigan Corrections spokesman Chris Gautz says the 29-year-old likely would be returned to Walker next week.
He was paroled in 2013 after convictions six years earlier for armed robbery and unarmed robbery. Police say he cut his tether Monday.
