Gas Prices Keep Freefalling

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) – AAA Michigan says statewide gas prices have dropped about 17 cents a gallon in the last week.

The auto club says the average price per gallon of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was $2.06 on Sunday. That’s $1.34 less than a year ago.

According to price monitor the average motorists are paying for a gallon of gas in Lansing is $1.99. In Jackson the average is $2.03.

This is the seventh consecutive week for falling prices. Statewide prices are at their lowest level in more than five years.

AAA Michigan says the cheapest price was about $1.93 in the Flint area, Grand Rapids and Muskegon. The highest price was about $2.33 a gallon in the Marquette area.

The auto club says the Detroit-area average has fallen for the 17th week in a row, to about $2.07 a gallon.
