DETROIT (AP) – Police say a girl is dead after a man repeatedly shot at a car full of teenagers on Detroit’s east side.
There were five people in the car, most of them from the Grosse Pointe suburbs. The driver was able to get to a hospital, where some victims are in critical condition.
The shooting occurred around 9 p.m. Monday. Detroit Deputy Chief Renee Hall says as many as 30 shots were fired by a man who stepped out of another vehicle. He’s described as wearing a bulletproof vest and Army-style fatigues.
No arrests have been made.
Hall says the teens were trying to pick up a brother of one of the passengers in the car. She says investigators still are “putting the pieces together.”
