EAST LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Shoppers may have two days left, but gift givers only about two hours to make sure their presents end up “under the tree” on Christmas morning.
Here’s what you need to know to make sure they get there “in time.”
‘Tis the season to mail presents and if you haven’t already mailed your Christmas presents, you better do it now.
Tuesday is the last day the United States Postal Service can guarantee shipment by Christmas Day.
“I’m late of course! But I’m getting it done!” said Darryl Saddler, East Lansing.
“There are some Priority Mail Express package. We do have people to deliver them to make sure people have a Merry Christmas,” said Sabrina Todd, communication spokeswoman.
Staff at the United States Postal Service in East Lansing are working hard to get your packages to their destinations on time.
“There’s 40 carriers out there right now delivering approximately 5,000 packages just out of this building, we have approximately 20,000 Christmas cards we’re delivering!” said James Trites, officer in charge.
Don’t forget, late Christmas shippers should be prepared to pay extra for express shipping. A flat-rate express box could cost as much as $32 more than its regular flat rate counterpart.
The post office in East Lansing will be open until 7 p.m. Tuesday, so for all of those late Christmas shoppers, the clock is ticking to get your presents to loved ones on time.
