LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Bags of wrapping paper, old Christmas trees and leftovers from Christmas dinner are just a few reasons the holidays are a messy time of year.
That is why the city of East Lansing will once again offer its annual no-fee holiday trash collection and Christmas tree recycling program.
From December 23rd to January 2nd people can throw away any extra trash without the use of the yellow city trash bag on their normal collection days.
And from December 29th to January 5th you can put your old live Christmas tree out by the curb to have it picked up and recycled.
If the tree is taller than 6 feet it must be cut in half before it can be picked up. The trees will be chipped and used as mulch in East Lansing parks. There are also drop off locations for trees through January 9th.
