Suspect In Deputy Whitaker Chase Death In Court

(WLNS) – The man accused of causing the car-crash that lead to the death of Ingham County Deputy Grant Whitaker is spending the day in a Mason courtroom.

John Kelsey II is facing felony charges. His pre-trial conference is Monday.

Kelsey is accused of leading Deputy Grant Whitaker on a high-speed chase near Stockbridge earlier this month.

The chase ended when Deputy Whitaker lost control of his police car, and hit a tree.

Official say they have the man, but not the vehicle involved in the deadly chase.

That’s where you come in. Police are asking for help finding the white, 2003 GMC Yukon Denali Kelsey was driving.

The license plate at the time read CPP6978. Officials say the plate may have been changed since.

If you recognize the GMC Yukon Denali or have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 517-483-STOP.
