LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Christmas is only three days away but it certainly does not look like the holidays outside.
Many may be hoping for a white Christmas this year but last year thousands in mid-Michigan were probably wishing winter weather would lighten up a little bit. That is because one year ago today a massive ice storm struck mid-Michigan and caused plenty of problems for people across the area. The deep freeze coated the area with thick ice knocking down tree branches and power lines all around Lansing. Nearly 40 percent of BWL customers went days before power was restored to their homes.
Since then Mayor Virg Bernero worked with city and BWL officials to create an emergency plan in case of another severe power loss.
6 News reporter Nick Perreault caught up with BWL General Manager Peter Lark, Mayor Virg Bernero and the man brought in to review BWL’s handling of the storm. You can catch that story tonight right here on 6 News.
