State Police Ask For Help Finding Vehicle In Whitaker Investigation

(WLNS) – The Michigan State Police is asking for the public’s help in locating the vehicle Ingham County Deputy Grant Whitaker was pursing when he was killed in a crash. The suspected vehicle is described as a white 2003 GMC Denali with a Michigan registration plate of CPP-6978.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of this vehicle is asked to call the MSP tip line at (517) 331-5634. Please note the registration plate may have been changed to avoid identification.

In the early morning hours of Dec. 7, 2014, Deputy Whitaker was killed during a vehicle pursuit in Ingham County. The crash happened shortly after 2 a.m. outside of the village of Stockbridge in the area of M-52 and Dexter Trail.

John Kelsey II, 34, has been charged in this case with driving with a suspended or revoked license causing death, first-degree fleeing police and as a fourth offense habitual offender. Kelsey was arraigned in the Ingham County 55th District Court on Monday, Dec. 15.
