Officers Identified In Lansing Twp. Shooting

LANSING TOWNSHIP, MI (WLNS) – Police have identified the two officers involved in a shooting on Monday, Dec. 8.

Police were on a traffic stop in the 2600 block of W. Kalamazoo when one of the people in the car, Randall Minier showed a handgun. An officer fired shots at Minier.

The Lansing Twp. Police Department says Officer Eric Lapham fired the shots. Officer Lapham has been with the Lansing Twp. Police Department for 16 years. A second officer was also on scene, Officer Brad Braeutigam. Officer Brauetigam has been with the Lansing Twp. Police Department for two years.

Minier was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Michigan State Police are still investigating the case and will be presenting reports to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office.
