Deadline for Jan. Affordable Care Act Coverage

(WLNS) – There is an important deadline today for everyone seeking health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act by the first of the year.

Officials say more people are signing up on the exchange this year but say most customers are coming back now for a second time.

According to a spokesperson for Blue Cross Blue Shield, most of those repeat customers do not plan to do anything at all which means tomorrow, they will automatically be re-enrolled in their existing plans.

But he says many of those people could be surprised to find an increase in price.

He says blue cross alone has added more than 20 new healthcare plans to choose from this year so it is worth looking at your options again.

If you do not need your benefits to start on January 1st you have until February 15th to enroll with no penalty.
