MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) – Central Michigan University is planning an $8 million lacrosse and soccer field project that also will be used by intramural and club teams.
Plans for the synthetic turf field were approved this week by the Mount Pleasant school’s Board of Trustees. Included in plans for the project is a building adjacent to the field that would have locker rooms, concessions, coaching offices and a training room.
Athletics Director Dave Heeke says in a statement that it will “optimize opportunities not only varsity athletics, but club sports as well.”
The board also budgeted $5.7 million for deferred maintenance for campus buildings and roads, roof replacement, exterior lighting and other projects.
