One Dead After Shooting In Lansing Twp. Involving Officer

LANSING TWP., MI (WLNS) – Police say one man is dead after an officer involved shooting in Lansing Township Monday.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. Monday in the 2600 block of W. Kalamazoo, near Hathaway Street.

Officials say police pulled a car over for a traffic stop and shots were fired. It is unknown whether the victim had a weapon. The victim was one of three people in the car during the traffic stop.

Lansing Township Police held a press conference on Monday afternoon. Both Lansing Twp. officers have been put on paid administrative leave while Michigan State Police investigate. One officer has been with Lansing Township Police for three years and the other 15 years.

Michigan State Police are continuing to investigate.

The last officer involved shooting in Lansing Township was more than 20 years ago.
