21-Year-Old Killed In What Appears To Be Accidental Shooting

BLACKMAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WLNS) – More details are being released in a deadly shooting in Blackman Township over the weekend.

Police were called to the 5000 block of Big Rock Street around 7:30 Saturday evening.

According to investigators the 16-year old responsible for the shooting told them that he took a handgun into his brother’s room. Horse playing, and thinking the gun was unloaded, the 16-year old said he pointed the gun at his 21-year old brother, made a comment to the effect of “do you feel lucky”, and then pulled the trigger. The 21-year old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The parents had gone to the grocery store, and there was nobody else at the home at the time of the shooting. The 16-year old called 911 and met officers at the front door upon their arrival.

The incident remains under investigation, including finding out where the 16-year old got the firearm. It did not belong to either parent or the victim. The last name of the people involved is not being released at this time because the case remains under investigation and because it involves a juvenile.
