(WLNS) – As our 12 Days of Giving Campaign continues to bring hope and help in the fight against hunger locally, two Greater Lansing Food Bank volunteers are giving their time and energy to do the same.
6 News Evan Pinsonnault introduces us to them in Friday’s Tell Me Something Good.
“To us every Tuesday is giving Tuesday, we’re fortunate in our lives and now we enjoy giving back,” said Mary Kay Ozanich.
Mary Kay and Walt Ozanich of Lansing are quite the volunteer team for the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
“Whatever needs to be done, I’m there. If it’s sorting food, I’ll do that. If it’s cutting box bottoms for storage, I’ll do that,” said Walt Ozanich, Great Lansing Food Bank volunteer.
Every week, they join a spirited group of fellow retirees at the warehouse.
“We have a lot of fun and have also become social friends which carries on,” said Mary Kay Ozanich.
Making sure those in need across mid-Michigan get the food they need, especially at the time it’s needed most, the holidays.
“This is just a small token on our part to maybe help eliminate that hunger,” said Walt Ozanich.
“It’s the best thing for your soul, when you’re giving back to others, it’s such a feel good thing, and it’s needed,” said Mary Kay Ozanich, Greater Lansing Food Bank, volunteer.
Just like their supportive relationship that now helps support our community.
