Short-eared Owl Released From Howell Nature Center

HOWELL, MI (WLNS) – The short-eared owl is an endangered species in Michigan and today the Howell Nature Center is making the necessary effort to add more into the wild.

Shorty was found at Detroit Metro Airport in 2011 and after three years of care she is ready to fly out into the open again.

Officials say she is a breeding owl and hope that getting her back into the wild will lead to more Short-eared owls in Michigan.
