John Dingell To Receive Great Lakes Achievement Award

EAST LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Congressman John Dingell is being honored by Michigan Clean Water Action for his support of the Great Lakes.

The Great Lakes Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Dingell at the 2014 Great Lakes Awards celebration on Tuesday, April 22. The award, which will be given on Earth Day, comes after Dingell’s work on the National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act.

Representative Dingell, the longest-serving member of Congress in American history announced his retirement back in February. First elected in 1955, 87-year-old Dingell filled the House seat vacated by his late father. 

The celebration will be at East Lansing’s HopCat on Grove Street. HopCat’s managing director, Garry Boyd will receive the Clean Water Innovator Award for his work conserving energy and reducing waste.
