LANSING, Mich. (AP) – Officials are seeking outdoors-minded candidates for consideration as additions to the state Department of Natural Resources Commission Youth Conservation Council.
Council members make recommendations on hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities in Michigan.
Council staff adviser Raymond Rustem says 18 young people were selected last year. The goal is to have a 25-member council. Rustem says the group is looking for more representation from the Upper Peninsula, northeast Lower Michigan and urban areas.
Council members must commit to attending at least four meetings each year and taking part in discussions about Michigan's outdoors and statewide recreation opportunities.
Applications are available on the state Department of Natural Resources website, www.michigan.gov/dnr .
They must be postmarked by Jan. 31, 2014.
