Grand Rapids West Catholic 27 – Portland 14

One year later, coach John Novara and Portland hosted West Catholic, only this time in the opening round.

In the third quarter trailing 14-10, Clay Morris handed it off to JD Kerr for a score. Raiders took a 17-14 lead.

But the falcons came right back. Quarterback Travis Russell barreled his way into the endzone to take the lead right back, 21-17

With the game still in reach, Morris scrambled trying to find a reciever, but found Nick Sieracki instead for an interception.

A disappointment for the Raiders. Their state title defense came to an end at the hands of West Catholic, 27-14.
