The Non-Profit Organization known as the Lansing Jaycees is hosting its annual “Stuff the Bus” event to provide Christmas gifts to forty-four local children who might not otherwise have any.
The event goes from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. in front of the Wal-Mart at the Eastwood Towne Centre in Lansing.
As customers enter the store, the Jaycees provide those willing to donate with a shopping list of items, each designated to a specific child. Customers can then buy specific items like toys and clothing which the Jaycees organize and “stuff” in a Cata Bus.
“A lot of these children, they wouldn't have a Christmas without this. They would wake up Christmas morning to no toys or clothing, gifts or anything. And so this basically provides Christmas for them and their families,” said Danielle Wellington, chairperson of the “Stuff the Bus” event.
In addition to the gifts, each child's family will also receive a gift card with which they can buy a Christmas Dinner.
“I encourage anyone who wants to help lift the holiday spirits of local children and their families to participate,” said Lauren Leeds, president of the Lansing Jaycees.
