Jennifer Gearheart, mother of two: “It makes a really big dent in our grocery bill”

The Angel Food Ministry provides affordable meal packages to all comers, regardless of income. Basic packs start at $30 and include ribs, pork, pasta and broccoli.

Jennifer Gearheart: “the kids go through it and help take care of it and just love going through and are like 'oh look we got this, oh we got corn”

Marge Gregory is the Angel Food organizer at Woodview Church of the Nazarene. She says the church is part of the ministry as a way to better serve their North Lansing community.

Marge Gregory, Woodview Church of the Nazarene: “every month we see new families coming in so the word is getting out and we realize that the need is there.”

A need that's growing as the economy is slowing. Gregory says she sees about 30 people each month and nationally more than 10, 000 people rely on Angel Food.

Patty Gregory, mother of two : “You'd be surprised how much you carry out when you leave here on pickup day and you look at it and you go oh this was only $30”

Marge Gregory: “I've been telling everyone i know that's struggling with the bill and struggling to bring in the groceries about the Angel Food Ministries”
