Lauren Thompson anchors 6 News on the weekends.
Lauren has become a veteran around the 6 News newsroom. She joined the 6 News team in the summer of 2003. She worked her way up from a general assignment reporter to the Anchor of the 6 News weekend morning show and then moved on to “6 News This Morning.” She anchored the show for 6 years.
After having her second daughter in December 2010 Lauren transferred to the weekends to spend more time with her girls during the week. While Lauren misses the morning team and its viewers she feels she has now found a better fit as an evening anchor.
Lauren has been honored with several awards for her “Breaking” and “Hard News” coverage by both the Associated Press and Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
Originally from Lake Orion, Michigan, Lauren grew up watching news in Detroit. At a young age, she decided she wanted to work in television news and never changed her mind.
An honors graduate of Michigan State University, Lauren still enjoys going back to campus to cover stories, tailgate and to support the Spartan teams.
Lauren feels blessed to have found a perfect balance between career and family. Lauren's husband also works at WLNS as an Account Executive on the sales team. Together, they are blessed with three young daughters, Chamberlain (Lainey), Mallie, and Lakelyn.
