10/25/01- One Eaton County community is doing its best to pick up the pieces after straight line winds damaged house after house after house on Narrow Lake Road. What are these residents saying? Many residents told us that they've never seen anything like this before. Trees on top of homes, glass from windows everywhere, garages knocked down. But these residents say they're strong and they will get through this. Mary Mchenry's retirement home was hit hard. But the Mchenrys aren't the only people in what is primarily a vacation home community trying to make sense of mother nature's fury.
The Eaton County Sheriff's Department has set up an emergency services headquarters at Narrow Lake Road for damage assessment. So far, it's estimated the storm caused one million dollars in damages to homes in the county. The cost to businesses has yet to be determined.
